Gold Coast Montessori for a Baby Friar Bird

friarbird

Well whoever heard of a Noisy Friar Bird coming to learn at a Gold Coast Montessori preschool?

We have a nesting pair and they are very tough on our poor Kookaburras who hang around on the old TV aerial.

This is what the adults look like. The Noisy Friarbirds eat nectar, fruit, insects and other invertebrates. They spend their time feeding on nectar high up in trees, only coming down to the ground sometimes to feed on insects.

Noisy Friarbirds form long-term pairs, with both parents defending the nest and surrounds. The female builds a  deep cup-shaped nest from bark and grass, bound with spider webs, in a tree-fork. You can see it (sort of) in the movie high up in our Fig Tree.

Watching these birds and what they get up to is another way for children to learn in any Gold Coast Montessori preschool, if you are lucky enough have great natural surroundings like Fridays Child.

Why We Love It.
"Our daughter attended Fridays Child Montessori Preschool for two years before commencing her Prep Year at school. From the first day of Prep, she loved the school environment and thrived on the educational experience. We believe the smooth transition from preschool to school was greatly enhanced by the curriculum and many activities she had undertaken whilst at Fridays child. Her intellectual abilities were extended by the diversity of challenges offered within the program at Fridays Child. The Fridays Child Jolly Phonics program provided her with an excellent head start in her school reading and she continues to be above average in this area. We thank Laurena and her staff for preparing our daughter so well for school and we are now enjoying watching our son grow and develop during his time at Fridays Child."
